Night of the Long Knives
Following the controversy over the charges of anti-Semitism within the Labour Party especially directed at Ken Livingstone and Naz Shah MP for Bradford, the scandal of him apparently endorsing a Nazi mural, and now the revelations that a number of Labour supporters have been making anti-Semitic posts on Facebook, Jeremy Corbyn is clamping down on all forms of racism within the party and has taken the unprecedented step of sacking shadow Home Secretary Dianne Abbott.
In an interview with Andrew Neil, Corbyn has revealed that racism and bigotry seem to be rife in the Labour Party and Momentum in particular, and if he stands any chance of getting elected at the next general election, he must stamp out all forms of racism, bigotry and sexism. Anyone displaying such behaviour will be summarily sacked. His former lover Dianne Abbott has been singled out for dismissal because of a recently released film recorded two years ago that showed her on her mobile phone using `inappropriate language` to someone later revealed to be her East European housekeeper. The terms used in the conversation where wholly derogatory and racist and some swear words describing the housekeeper (name withheld) were bleeped out.
Presumably the first of many - may I suggest John McDonnell for the next one?
