It's still tortuous going out grocery shopping

...snow, ice and slush in varying depths and combinations made my trip to the co-op heavy going today.

They didn't have any bread, but not so big a deal as I have crackers and am making chili tonight. They seemed to be running low on bananas, too. Still, I got enough so that I won't go hungry until Tuesday by which time I hope everything has melted.

It's really like late December weather in March.

Since you have a lap-top computer, why don't you utilise the home-shopping facility and get your groceries delivered to you. Its a lot easier than lugging shopping bags or trolleys around with you.

I only do home shopping for groceries if I am really desperate, I like to check it out for myself first, especially the date stamping.

I keep meaning to, UJ, but I get put off by the number of complaints - people who have had inappropriate substitutes or whole passels of items missing.

Living alone and going grocery shopping, carrying as much as I can because I don't drive is so engrained in me. The current weather is very unusual. It is at least 2c today so I foresee a slow thaw.

Supermarkets here haven't been doing home deliveries Joe as the side roads in many areas have become impossible to drive in due to heavy drifting snow and icy conditions..I've had My furniture delivery and argos deliveries postponed until things improve.

That's a problem easily resolved - I ALWAYS insist on NO SUBSTITUTES facility.

Why don't you get a taxi to take you to the shops?

I see lots of people arriving and being picked up in taxi's when I go to Tesco.

This is what I do ,not being a driver but not everyone can afford to add taxi fares ,£3 each way in my case onto their shopping costs .
I havn’t been out for 6 days however because cars havn’t been able to get into the area I live in .

I kind of resent paying the money; tomorrow, though, I'm getting a taxi down to the hospital to make sure I get there in time (still no full bus service).
