Lack of respect for other people's opinion

When you are in a discussion with some one and they don't really listen to your point of view and just keep repeating and rambling their side, doesn't it bug you?

I have a friend "who is always right". Doesn't matter who she is talking to, she always raises her voice a little louder than theirs to emphasize a point.

Some people don't want to debate they just love the "arguing"

I am trying to learn to "agree to disagree"..it is hard for anyone to change their ways...we are who we are....

This was on the radio today, narcissism, been a long time since seeing that one, all that thrust, can be lost on the unreceptive.

See, that was one of the indicators.

Well, seems to me that if you cant agree to disagree on a subject, and sadly many dont seem very clever that way, all that happens is you go round and round in circles.

On a forum it sometimes tends to get more and more acrimonious until most people just bow out.

The only thing to do is to say what you have to say, state your point of view, and then go and do something else...

Of all my years of well reasoned and logical argument I can honestly say I've never changed the opinion of anyone else.

That is true ... I agree with everyone who has posted.

There does come a time when, instead of friction and always disagreeing , it seems best to aim for consistency .. that is to say, either offend no one at all ..or offend everyone at once , if you can.
This is a foolproof method to ensure everyone ignores you all of the time.
Works for me.

My conclusion exactly ... impersonating a porcupine with arrows in the back is a small price to pay.

One can, agree, disagree, agree to disagree, or just keep quiet.

In the end, the most stubborn and determined with the loudest voices think they win, and the losers move on through sheer boredom of 'the same old' .

No winners, just bored people wanting their voices heard because their own opinions HAVE to be right !

No debate at all. Well , i.e. not on social media sites.

Yeah my pet hate.
1. The self-righteous brigade; know-it-alls.
2. The narcissists who don't listen to anyone else's conversation.
3. The ones who interrupt when you're in the middle of putting your point across.
4. The ignorant folk who ignore you and raise their voice to drown you out.

I hope I'm the type who actually listens to what people have to say before putting in my tuppence woth!
