Cat not eating

One of our cats has stopped eating. he only has a few mouthfulls. I can get a treat stick in him and he drinks water and licks jelly off the food.

Is he just fussy or what?

Re: Cat not eating

Could he have a tooth problem? That would certainly cause him discomfort when eating. My cat went for a routine dental last year and an infected tooth was discovered and removed.

Cats are excellent at hiding illness; I'd have him off to the vet, Elbee. How old is he?

Could it be he is getting food from somewhere else Elbee? Some cats visit neighbours and get fed.

Re: Cat not eating

Our cat did the same once. Stopped eating then stopped going to the toilet. I took him to the vet, turned out he had a fur ball stuck half way! He couldn't get it up and it refused to go through. lol. Vet gave him a mouthful of some sort of cream and it fixed the problem in a couple of hours.

Re: Cat not eating

It is worrying for the owner if their cat stops eating..... I usually leave mine until the second day and if she is still not eating I take her to the vet for a check.

Re: Cat not eating

Eating again now!

It seems he just wanted some food that was twice the price of what he has been eating!

He ate treat sticks so I dont think his teeth are the problem but fur ball stuck could be perhaps.

By the way he is 5.

Still he is back eating for now - no harm or vet fees this time.

Re: Cat not eating

That's a relief, I'm glad he is ok and has his appetite back!
