Jealousy

Does jealousy serve any purpose? Is it something that can be used to improve ourselves to obtain a better mate, better job, better life? Or is it purely a negative emotion?

I can understand if a man is jealous of a woman or visa versa......BUT,
for the life of me, I can't understand why one woman would be jealous of another woman.
Or why one man would be jealous of another man.

We have two nice ladies on our street, that are so nice when you see them seperately, but if they are together, it is mahem.

They are super jealous of how much attention the other one is getting in the neighbourhood.

I don't get it,, they chase each other around, with putdowns, they gossip behind each others back. They both belong to the same book club forum, and it is the same way on there, they make snide remarks at each other.

I am so glad I don't have a jealous bone in my body. I never judge people and I never care if another woman get's more attention than me.

OK, for the men, come on in here and give me your cute wise cracks, I can just imagine what you are all going to say, hahahaha

Re: Jealousy

Jealousy is a very powerful emotion. In affairs of the heart people have killed because of it.

When it comes to same sex jealousy as in the women you mention - it could be because one is envious of the other because they're more popular - or have nicer things - are better looking etc etc. This type of jealousy is a watered down version and doesn't often lead to violence - though I suppose it could...

Re: Jealousy

Basically, the only one that jealousy hurts, is the person who is jealous .
It's a completely wasted emotion.

Re: Jealousy

I have never been a jealous person. It is a destructive, negative emotion.

I am never jealous of what anyone owns. l just think, good for them!

I have never been jealous when l have been going out with someone.
Say, at a party if a woman tried to chat the person l was with, up, l didn’t go mad, l left them to it and sought out the best looking man in the room and chatted to them!

This is it exactly. There's a big big difference between being envious that someone has something you don't and having a raging jealously bordering on serious anger.

A lot of it stems from being short of money in my case in the past. But as I grew older I put things into perspective and realised that I didn't need certain materialistic things that much after all.

It's better to have your health and happiness than anything, and I try to be positive about achieving both.
