The Royal Wedding, got your invitation yet?

I see the invitations have gone out and I am expecting mine to land on the carpet any day. Have you got yours yet?

The only downside is mixing with the other common rabble that will inevitably be invited i.e., footballers, pop stars, hangers on etc. and, of course, Stephen Fry. So utterley predictable and depressing don't you think? What is this absolute adulation of celebrity? I can't work it out !

Now the Beckhams are on the list, the circus will be even bigger than ever. Would'nt want to be part of that particular egofest at any price.

plantman, a few years ago I decided that I would try to never ever use the word 'celebrity' to me all these types are just workers like every one else. So to me in the world of sport there are some good workers, some average workers, and some bad workers. To me it's just like a factory, you get the guys who are always on time, work hard, and know their job, and you get the rest

Same in entertainment industry, a few people work hard, learn their lines, behave in a civilised way, and a lot don't.

Just as in industry you get the occassional extra special person who has made it to the top of his or her proffession through dedication and hard work, but in my view there are not many in sport, media, or entertainment.

LOL! It's a holiday here today (President's Day), so no mail delivery; I daresay my invitation will come tomorrow.

Seriously, although after George III and all that, a lot of us on this side of the Pond do watch the Royals with interest, I'd not want to be a participant in that. But it does make for great TV .... no one can beat British pageantry.

Since 'revolutions' seem to be 'flavour of the month' in the Middle East at the moment, how about we have our own 'revolution' on 29th April and I can drive my fully loaded 'Tank' to the wedding and fire off the gun in celebration???

Even during the darkest days of the communist regime here people were always interested in stories about the Royals and even papers like Rudi Pravo (Nearest translation = Red Justice) used to report on where the queen was visiting and even included a few pictures. It used to slightly amuse me, and also make me proud at the same time.

You won't be able to avoid seeing a least a few snippets on the nine o'clock news 'tho
