I pad orientation problem

Last night I was using my iPad to watch a film in bed so I locked the orientation to stop it doing that irritating thing of going from one side to another. This morning it's refusing to unlock and I e tried turning off and back on but no change.

Anyone know how to fix this in simple numpty terms ?

Have you tried a reboot? Home button and off/on button at the same time..hold down both until the Apple logo appears

Have you tried in Settings/General, lock rotation? As Rehab said, also re-boot your iPad.

Yes done that it's in settings I can't get the orientation button to untick. Just doesn't respond.

Julie, access the Control Center by touching the bottom of your screen then drag upwards.

Tap the Portrait Orientation icon (which looks like a lock inside a circular arrow) to lock or unlock screen portrait orientation.

When the icon is highlighted in red, the screen is locked into portrait orientation mode, click on it and it will open.
