This is crackers.

Did a last minute bit of shopping this morning in Sainsbury's and picked up a small box of Christmas crackers. I then proceeded to the self checkout as all the other checkouts were jammed up with the usual slow coaches and the deliberately obstructive.

I swiped the crackers past the bar code reader and was shocked to hear 'Approval needed, please wait for assistance'.
Apparently staff now have to approve them because of the little cardboard banger bit.

Crackers!

Don't be silly Dongle, that message was only put on the checkout because all the ladies at Sainsbury's want to get close to you.

You might be right Twink, it does seem to happen to me a lot. Plus I quite often get an unexpected item in my bagging area.

Sorry, I was just continuing with the cracker puns - pull the other one, it's a joke..etc, never mind.

It is perfectly true though that crackers have to be approved when using the self service checkout.
