Re: Boxing Ring?.

Looooong ago, folks would encircle a few blokes that had gotten into a fight-thus a ring of folks. Later on that ring of people was transformed into a netted circle.
Then time changed it again to a square so you would have a neutral corner for a fighter to catch his/her breath & receive a bit of help to continue fight.
With the advent of martial arts/boxing combo, seen in last few years on tv, the square is now round again & called a cage. Sides are now higher with certain areas being neutral between rounds.

Re: Boxing Ring?.

Much obliged Dragon for that excellent explanation.
My dear old Granny used to say to my Brother and me, that when we reach the pearly gates, Saint Peter would ask us three questions and if we didn't know the answers we wouldn't get it in, that might be one of them. I think it was just her clever way of getting us to learn all we could.

For the same reason we drive on a parkway and park in a driveway.

Fat air: Is comprised of gaseous materials that have been fermented in a dark warm place.
FYI! Fat air equals a Fart!
