Roadworks

Hi

A bit of a rant.

I got seriously stuck in roadworks today.

One I could understand, an accident in one, which was unavoidable.

The others, no.

The level crossing in Wem was shut during half term, a reasonable time to do alterations.

Half term has now ended and we now have a new set of roadworks right next to the level crossing for a week, complete with two sets of traffic lights and chaos.

Why could they not have done them at the same time that the road was closed?

This morning they started work on Prees roundabout, the junction of two heavily used main roads, the A49 and the A41.

It is completely shut, the new road surface, which they are doing in stages, takes 24 hours to set.

An absolute logjam.

At the same time, two miles away, they are doing works on the A41, with a diversion through the top of the village.

The diversion has a set of roadworks on it, with traffic lights.

How stupid is that?

Those with traffic alerts on their Sat Navs are now being directed through the village, which is single file, with cars parked on one side of the road.

There are only 4 ways into and out of the village, 3 of which are solid with traffic and the fourth one has a back lane cutoff, used by the locals.

It is fine for the milk tankers, but useless for artics.

Absolute sheer madness.

We have 240,000 chickens stuck on one farm and milk tankers hours behind.
