Does anyone still use CDs?

I don't; I have lossless versions of them on my devices and the cloud.

I don't even have a CD/DVD player.

Yes Fosse, I'm afraid I do.
I am a bit of a fossil when it comes to new technology.

Ffosse, You wont have much left in your house soon!

I play CD’s loudly in my car of all my favourite music.
In the house, l listen to music via Spotify, or on my internet radio.

I don't like clutter: that means no books, CDs, DVDs etc. And no TV.

I saw that too, Mags.
Handsome pair aren't they and they sing well together.
I liked the song at the end with that young woman, she had good voice too.

AFAIK, lossless versions of CDs consume a vast amount of storage, each music track requiring 40-50 MB of space.

In my case, I have 25,000 tracks, so I would need at least a 1TB storage device or I would have to buy 1TB of cloud storage (if my calculations are correct).

Luckily, External Hard Drives are cheap nowadays (£50 or so) and cloud storage is about £8 pm for 1TB, but I would need both to ensure the safety of my collection.

However, I wonder how long it would take to convert, say, 1000 CDs to lossless .....

Re: Does anyone still use CDs?

We are just planning a new storage system for our CDs and DVDs, we'd be lost without them, I've recorded them all onto an sd stick but still prefer to put one in the machine and sit down to enjoy it. Still regret getting rid of our lps and 45s but we had no record player and couldn't get one at the time. Maddingly they are making a come back ! So we could have kept them.

Love Alfie and Michael too mags they always look so happy together too and sound great.
