Taking Panoramic photos

How to do it is easy. All you need to do is overlap each shot taken by about a third . It may take 3/4 photos as above to do it. Just make sure the distance is about the same.
One does have to keep the camera pointing on the same level, not one in the air and the next at the ground.

You also need an edting program that does what is called stitching. I use Adobe photoshop Elements 14 which matches and balances each shot so it becomes one.
The other alternative is a wide angle lens but then you can get distortion whee the sides bend in together

Oh the picture size is
ImageSize: 15936x6650 incase your wondering

Re: Taking Panoramic photos

Beautiful picture.

I have something called panoramic mode on my iPhone...I take it that it's not the same thing?

I should really get out more and use my phone's camera.

Re: Taking Panoramic photos

I take quite a lot of panoramas. Sometimes using the built in panorama feature on my Fuji cameras. Also taking and stitching them myself as above. The last big manual one I did ended up about 30 feet wide at print resolution!

A few things that I find help...

1. Setting and locking the exposure at about the mid point so that it doesn’t vary across the shot.
2. Focusing again at the mid point and then locking that focus in.
3. To increase the resolution and number of shots I usually take them in portrait format.

It's the same thing - and the iPhone does a good job of auto stitching too and gives good results as long as you don't want any creative control or big prints.
