Winter is coming.

I went shopping yesterday. I wasn't cold or anything but for some reason I got this urge to start buying warm clothing.
I ended up buying a thinsulate Beannie hat, pair of leather gloves, 2 scarfs 1 silk 1 cotton cannot abide wool near my neck, a big thick jumper, thick wool socks and extra long wool socks to wear with my wellies.
I came home and ordered a Champion full length riding coat and a Indiana waxed hat.
I seem to be planning for a cold winter.

You'll enjoy the warmth of your new wardrobe come the cold days.

I decided not to buy any new clothes this year as I have so many almost unworn Winter clothes from last year - quite expensive stuff too including cashmere jumpers and new boots.

Was reading somewhere that this is going to be a really cold winter, a polar blast is due this year and could start as early as the end of this month, mind you, these are the same experts that always promise us a barbacue summer..

The Daily Express and Mail simply invent their weather headlines.

That does sound like you are planning for the worst I'm not buying or making winter clothes this year I have enough from last year, my husband bought me a beautiful pale green duffle coat last year and that I am looking forward to getting out because it's lovely.

Re: Winter is coming.

I wore a jumper for the first time this autumn. I've got all my woolens packed away upstairs in case of moths, but I didn't notice many moths this year. Better to be safe than sorry, though.

Re: Winter is coming.

I used to have a lovely wool poncho reminiscent of Clint Eastwood -the moths ate it despite the fact I had laced it with moth balls which they seemed to think was added flavouring .

And there's me working in a t shirt still

My winter wear is summer wear with a few more layers

I also prefer silk and cashmere

For me winter and the cold means an extra pair of socks usually
