Sensitve Bladder

Daily we are confronted with many Ads usually round Teatime, with advice for women's Sensitive Bladder problems.

Does that problem not also apply to men?
And, why would one want to broadcast it to millions'

Some things are best left private and surely all women who have this problem, know how to deal with it and do not need help from TV Ads

I suppose some women might be embarrassed to ask about protection.
Someone once told me that women are gravity fed, men aren't. I'm not sure what that means but I suppose men can hold it in better. Also women lose muscle tone after childbirth so can't always control the flow as well as they could.
I dunno, perhaps the men on here will enlighten us about any problems they get.
The companies doing the ads probably think that more women watch telly around tea time.

Re: Sensitve Bladder

I have to say not all ladies who suffer have a network of friends or family who can offer advice and so they suffer in silence.

While pads offer some help for slight leakage they are not a solve all soloution and many ladies still use sanitary pads which are very different to the incontinece pads made specially for the leak situation but without proper advice they turn to the one thing they have experience of..

One lady I knew asked her doctor who told her it was normal for her age so she put up with it getting more and more problems which started to affect her social life to the point she hardly dare even go shopping.

Eventually we went to a private clinic and she had a bladder suspension surgery done.

As a bloke of a certain age, I can assure you that men have bladder/urine problems, both passing when not wanted, and not passing when it is wanted.

Most of the men I know, talk about it to each other. We talk about things available over the counter, medical procedures, and medicines that can help.

Re: Sensitve Bladder

There was a programme on tonight that was partly about this.

They were showing ladies how to do pelvic floor exercises and the women who followed the instructions for a while said that it had definitely helped.

Mups, I did those exercises after l had my babies and throughout my life when l remembered! Thankfully, it has paid off!
It was something you did whilst sitting in a chair at work or at home!
I also used to point my toes and turn my foot/ankle clockwise. I'm not sure what that was for?!!

Re: Sensitve Bladder

Are you talking about Tena Lady type ads or health information type ads?

If it wasn't for a health information type ad, I'd still be suffering in silence, thinking my bladder problem was just a symptom of getting old.
Then I saw an ad which suggested there may be a solution to my increasingly frequent trips to the loo, so I went to see the doc, who referred me to a specialist.
All I needed was day surgery to stretch the urethra, which can lose elasticity when oestrogen levels drop. (The narrowing of the tube means your bladder doesn't fully empty each time you use the loo)
It was a bit ouchy for a day or two afterwards but well worth it. Now I have the bladder control of a young woman again - no more crouching behind bushes on my long country hikes!
So I think health info ads are a good idea.

They were saying tonight to clench and hold for 5 seconds, then relax and let go. Wait 5 more seconds and repeat.
Do this 10 times.

After a week or two, increase the holding clench for 10 seconds.

I suppose we can do it almost anywhere really, because no one can see what's going on.

Re: Sensitve Bladder

These Ads are essentially made to make you buy protection
I'm sure in these modern times, people are no longer embarrassed to see their GP about any personal health problem
I have looked on Google and there are various procedures that will help and even cure Sensitive Bladder problems.
There is now non invasive Laparoscopy through the navel with very good results and a short stay in hospital.

I do sympathies with anyone with this problem.
It must be a major worry if you still work and visits to the toilet are limited, and in many other situations as well.
