Trip to North Wales

We left York in sunshine but the nearer we came to Manchester the dark clouds rolled in and rained. Cleared again as we reached the Welsh border and we could see the Dragons on the road gantries!!

Stopped here for lunch:-

http://ponderosacafe.co.uk/

and I have never seen so many motor cycles in one place before - every conceivable make and model - with owners very happy to discuss the merits of their machines. Had to be dragged back onto the coach by my hair.

Unfortunately we were visited by low cloud for most of the rest of our journey - so no photos from Horseshoe Pass or Horseshoe Falls.

The sun came out again as we reached LLangollen - what a lovely place!

This is the old railway station seen from across the Dee.

A lovely riverside walk.

Small rapids following on down from Horseshoe Falls and used for training canoeists.

OK - Hands up - who knew my cat owned a Fish Bar in Wales??

It has been a brilliant day - but it is good to be home - and I am very glad the world did not end after all !!

Re: Trip to North Wales

Thanks for this thread and photos..........your route is one I have ridden hundreds of times... A lovely part of the world.

Following the Foot and Mouth outbreak Betws y Coed(sp?) businesses suffered greatly....when the tourists returned they carried on the usual, moa ing about motorcyclists.

So the business owners all chipped in and had a big sign put in the car park which read something like "Please respect our biker friends, if it weren't for their support and continual visits our businesses would be no longer"

A very nice gesture.

Lovely photos ST and particularly love your shot of the riverside walk. You can almost smell the fresh air and hear the river.

Re: Trip to North Wales

Hi

So pleased you liked it ST.

LLangollen is only 40 minutes from me in the car, so a regular place to take visitors.

If you do venture there again, a trip on the canal boat across the Aqueduct is well worth it.
