Have you ever wondered about genes and personality traits?

I've been watching the old Thorn Birds series. It made me think how Meggie brought up two children. Both were so different, both had absent fathers, and one in particular followed his father into the priesthood. Same personality and character traits as his father, although he never saw him until he was 18 (or something like that).

Now, I know that's fiction but it got me thinking. I brought my daughter up on my own. Personality wise, she has a lot of her father - yet she only saw him twice a year for a week's holiday. (Not saying it's a bad thing, just wondering).

So is it all down to genes?

Yes, I've read up on it a bit. He and I are poles apart personality wise, yet she's such a lot of him in her, considering she hardly saw him.

I find it a bit of a conundrum.

My son barely remembers his father who died when he was 6 years old.
He is just like his father, same personality and mannerisms it's quite unnerving at times .

Pesta, I brought my son up on my own too, yet he is his father's double.

His Dad still saw him a fair bit, but my son lived with only me.

I think it is all down to genetics.

If that is only visually, then maybe.

No Spitty. My son and his dad do look a lot alike, but they are very alike in personality and behaviour too.
