This sounds like the flight from hell

Why were these women allowed to board in the first place if they were drunk, and why did the cabin crew serve them more drinks?

The Courier, Friday 4th August 2017

A group of rowdy women on a hen weekend to Benidorm were bundled off a Ryanair flight by the National Police at Alicante-Elche airport last Thursday night.

The six women, all said to be in their late twenties, were said to have had their fill of alcohol when they boarded flight FR 9898 from Liverpool's John Lennon airport.

Reports said they spent the flight drinking copious amounts of vodka, shouting, swearing and using sexually-explicit language, and even ended up fighting in the aisle. Passengers described their behaviour as "unacceptable" and "vile" saying the women were "a drunken mess" and had been "acting like creatures".

Ryanair cabin crew and the pilots made the decision to continue the flight to Alicante-Elche, but called authorities just before landing, with the National Police waiting to greet them to Spain.

After landing and before the seatbelt signs had tone off, they were already up and dragging their hand luggage from the overhead compartments, continuing to yell and swear.

Other travellers booed at them, as the cabin crew tried politely to make them sit down. When the police came and the women were eventually taken off the aircraft as crew told them to "get out", passengers cheered and clapped at the staff.

But the raucous group, far from showing remorse for putting travellers through what some of them called "the worst flight they had ever been on," was actually proud of their behaviour.

One of them even wrote on Facebook, "only us that can get escorted of (sic) plane by the Spanish police". They also posted pictures of them lying by their hotel swimming pool.

A Ryanair spokesperson said "The crew of this flight from Liverpool to Alicante requested police assistance upon arrival in Alicante-Elche after a number of passengers became disruptive in-flight. The aircraft landed normally and police removed and detained these individuals. The safety and comfort of our customers, crew and aircraft is our number one priority and we will not tolerate unruly or disruptive behaviour at any time.

Now that really would be my idea of a flight from hell Clumsy.
Despicable lot all of them who were potentially ruining the start of other peoples holidays like that.

Hi

If Ryanair had any sense they will not let them back on the return flight.

Shropshire is nowhere near the channel! How could they find their way to yours? I was merely suggesting that all airlines ban them, leaving them no option but to swim home. Or get someone to drive through the tunnel and collect them.

I think the rest of the passengers on that flight should have their air fares refunded. These hen and stag parties are completely ridiculous, nothing more that binge drinking to see who can behave the most disgracefully. I think it's also extremely embarrassing to know that when drunks are found lying on pavements, or wherever, in Benidorm, the first question asked by the police is "are you British?". Sadly they usually are.

all Stag and Hen parties should leave the boozing until they reach their destination. I blame the airport bar staff as well as the boarding staff and the airline itself. Why should bar staff at airports be treated any different from bar staff in ordinary public houses on the high street. All of them have a responsibly to refuse to sell alcohol to those they deem to have had too much already, (which these women obviously had!).

I agree with what everyone says. They should not be allowed on a flight home without a responsible escort - preferably one of their older relatives flown out from the UK at their own expense to accompany them.

Bet they wouldn't be laughing then!

Re: This sounds like the flight from hell

I agree with clumsy...they should never have been allowed on the flight in the first place if they were obviously the worse for wear, still less allowed more alcohol on the flight.

Airlines are entirely responsible for who they allow to fly.
You wouldn't allow a rabid dog on board, so why a drunken idiot?

And the sooner airlines ban booze totally from short haul flights the better.
