Farewell Siegfried.

Sad to read that Robert Hardy has passed away. A great actor he will always be Siegfried to me.

I thought Robert Hardy was a great character actor and loved his larger than life portrayal of Siegfried Farnon - though the real Siegfried (Donald Sinclair) was quite different in real life.
He used to be my local vet and regularly treated my cats in the surgery that has now become a museum. Perhaps age had mellowed him from the explosive blustery character portrayed in the books and TV series but, when I knew him, he was a very tall, slender, quiet gentle man, with a lovely 'bedside manner' towards his animal patients and human clients.

I think entire family will be upset at this, he has been pretty much a constant for all our lives working on films and tv from my teens to grace loving him in Harry Potter. Not many actors can claim that.
