Glass nail files

For my birthday last week Jordan and Ivana sent me a nice padded pouch with five glass nail files in it. I've been using them for nearly a week and have to say they are best nail files I've ever used.

If you get a chance to get some I recommend them. They work on more delicate finger nails and tough old toe nails too.

Re: Glass nail files

I've never seen those, Julie.

I was looking for the old metal ones recently, with the curved bit on the end to clean under your nails with. The young lady in the shop looked at me like I was mad, you could see she didn't even know what I meant.
They are handy for cleaning dirt out when I've been doing gardening and forgot to put gloves on!
All you see everywhere now is emery boards, which are good for nails, but no good for cleaning under them.

I bought some cheap ones and they are totally useless, oh well, you get what you pay for so they say!

The little nail clippers usually have a nail file with one of these curved bits on the end.

Good thinking Annie - thank you. I've got two pairs of those and forgot all about the file in them.

I don't know how much these cost but looking on line I think they may have been about £25 for the set. Not an amount I'd spend on myself for my nails but as a present I guess they are ok.

They are really good I've not used any before I was an emery user before I go these.

Re: Glass nail files

I have used glass nail files in the past, but found they are okay for a short time but wear smooth very quickly.

Re: Glass nail files

My nails get so brittle being an art teacher that I now get them manicured every fortnight
Cleaning them and rubbing Almond oil in to them is all I have to do

Only had mine a short time, so time will tell I guess.

What a lovely, unusual gift Julie.
