Spam

Spam is 80 years old today, strange that, seeing that PCs have only been round for 30 ish years.

Re: Spam

Does anyone still eat it? I was probably about ten years old the last time I had it.

Still eat it? Spam? One of the essential food groups - wouldn't be without it...

Come to think of it I must have been eating it for 70 of those 80 years.

Re: Spam

I once made the mistake of telling my Mum that I enjoyed it in my sandwiches that she made me for my snap.....So I got it every day for the next six weeks.......That might have been about the time I started to make my own sandwiches..........Don't forget the fruitgums though Mum!

Re: Spam

I used to like it fried as part of a Sunday breakfast in place of sausages.
I also ate it once when working at a customers home and his wife made spam sandwich's with tomato sauce for lunch, but I'd rather have it fried. Its too salty for me these days though.

Re: Spam

My goodness, Spam, the staple food for those during and after the war. I do remember being given a Spam sandwich when I was little but I left it on the plate as it was like eating a lard sandwich. Ugh!. But..... anyone still eat Savoury Duck? that was another staple food around at that time. I rather liked it with bacon and egg for breakfast. Mum used to slice them thick and fry them in butter in a huge frying pan. They were really tasty. Haven't had one since I was little though.
