Ok so I lost something important today. Searched high and low because it had to be somewhere in the house. Only to find it the third time I looked in the same place. Now if I checked in this place twice already how come I didn't find it until the third time? I am convinced there are mischievous gremlins that hide things and then put them back!
We discussed this a long time ago Annie, and voted almost unanimously that there are gremlins at work.
From what you say, it looks like they're back again.

Mups, Errrm... where have the gremlins been in the meantime? Hibernating?

Well they can't be everywhere at once. I think they work on a large area rota. They have been away working elsewhere, maybe even abroad for the winter.

Well, they were in my house the other week when l lost something! They must've come back early for our recent good weather!!
They were here only yesterday! I searched all my Ikea storage boxes yesterday, looking for the Suffolk maps. Today, I look again, and there they are, right at the bottom of one of them.

You may well be right about the seasonality of gremlins. I don't recall this happening much in the Winter. How does one rid oneself of a gremlin infestation?
These could be Kappas, mythical Japanese creatures. Although some people have taken pictures of them in real life. I guess they would fit the description of a Gremlin. Here below......
