Saudis apologise

The Saudi Government has apologised to the UK and Australia for the behaviour of its football team.

Must be a first.

Indded. Perhaps partly due to wanting to make out that they're the reasonable ones in the face of increased tensions between them and Iran?

Not the Saudi government but the Saudi Arabian Football Federation.

It will be interesting to see what FIFA do after fining England £35000 when our players wore a Poppy Armband a while back.
Personally I would kick em out of the competition.

"The FFA was further advised by Saudi team officials that this tradition was not in keeping with Saudi culture and they would move to their side of the field and respect our custom whilst taking their own positions on the field."

"The Saudi federation statement said it "deeply regrets and unreservedly apologises for any offense caused".

"The players did not intend any disrespect to the memories of the victims or to cause upset to their families, friends or any individual affect by the atrocity," the statement said."

So what was their intention then?

Just a lack of any interest perhaps?

FIFA, of course, are completely unbiased, aren't they? So I'd expect them to do nothing at all!

Unless you have a suitcase or two of unmarked notes to help them make their minds up.
