Wiki quote
"A still life (plural: still lifes) is a work of art depicting
mostly inanimate subject matter, typically commonplace objects which may be either natural (food, flowers, dead animals, plants, rocks, or shells) or man-made (drinking glasses, books, vases, jewelry, coins, pipes, and so on)" unquote
But not necessarily , to me if it ain't moving it is still and if living it is life.
Bit like "er indoors" in bed, only way I know she is alive is by her snoring
So the term "still life" in the common understanding is a contradiction itself.
cut flowers/fruit in a bowl should be "Still dead" or " nearly dead"
