What was that ?

Laying in bed last night I had Windows and curtains open having a bit of a hot flush, there was a tremendous bang and in the distance behind the houses at back of the flats a bright white light pointing from ground to sky. It shone for about five minutes then stopped as quickly as it started.

About an hour later another enormous bang but no light.


Aliens ? Or have I been reading too many fantasy books
