Nikon L 26 compact camera

i have had this camera for a few years but never really used it.For somthing to do I have just tried out this £65 compact camera . (me playing again) to see how good it actually is.

Straight from the camera

Not bad as a snapshot but the first thing I notice is lack of depth of field and the focus isn't brilliant. Ok might just be camera shake.
so next editing it

Yes an improvement. So what I asked myself is " Does a cheap compact camera compare with a DSLR camera?"

Well yes in some respects and no in others. The obvious is light and easy pocket fit, and it depends on the photo taken.
I tried a flower shot and it was terrible and no way to improve it in camera or editing.
Now compact camera like everything have improved on this one, but for a really cheap camera yes I do keep it in the car as a just in case camera

It's definatly a good job you have done as can be seen between the two pictures.
My carry every where pocket camera is a Fujifilm FinepixZ. Light and small with a few good features.
It's got to be better than a phone camera, that every one seems to use these days.

Thank you
Although I normally use my Nikon D800, compact cameras can and do produce excellent photos.

Here is a shot taken with a compact C7070 Olympus 7 Mpixels, but with pro spec glass. The ugliest camera around!

I've been shooting with a small compact camera with pro glass this week.

Re: Nikon L 26 compact camera

OK then, back to Nikon - without going through yards of internet, what is the difference between Nikon L and P compacts? I have an old ish Coolpix P7700, so is the number of knobs and functions it...?

Re: Nikon L 26 compact camera

So what about one of these? 1937-8 model. I have asked my grandson who is doing a photography course in college and recently bought a few rolls of B&W 35mil film as one of their projects, to run a roll through it.

Re: Nikon L 26 compact camera

Phew! Thanks RS, I suppose I'd better look for a more up to date Nikon compact. Mine doesn't have an optical viewfinder which is a nuisance sometimes.
