I agree. That guy is not some sort of hero, he had an affair with the dead ghastly Diana, nothing of which to be proud.

No one suggested he was a hero. It is a shock to me because he always seemed fit and a bit of a sportsman. I watched him doing high diving in a celebrity sports programme some years ago and he was very good at it.

I remember James as a contestant in C5's "Back to Reality" (which he won) - although, IIRC, he worked out on a daily basis, he also drank like a fish and smoked like a chimney - it was not unknown for him to imbibe several bottles of wine in an evening while smoking cigarettes and cigars (the latter sometimes simultaneously ..... )

He was an incorrigible lecher, making a beeline for the lovely Sarah Crozer (also a contestant):



and, later in the series, a beautiful blonde cellist .....

I got to like him - he had good manners, an easy charm and multiple skills (including being an excellent cook ..... )

I wish him a speedy recovery .....
