Bank Statements

They are just saying about Bank Statements on 'Loose Women.'

They are discussing whether we would happily show our statements to our partners.

I have never thought about it, not having a partner, but for those of you who have, do you mind your partner looking at your bank statement, or would you consider it private?

I never showed my bank statements to anyone other than an accountant and Mortgage lender.

Of course We had a joint account and one for budgeting.

When we got married over 50 years ago, we opened a joint bank account which we still have today. My only personal account is a small savings account and OH looks after that too!

We (my wife and I) always had a joint account - that's the whole point of getting married in the first place isn't it? What's mine is yours and all that.

We have had joint accounts for everything and have been equal partners in everything all of our married life. If you are fully committed to one another there should be no secrets.

Joint accounts of course, but separate accounts too.

You share certain things, house, contents, car etc.
But you should also have access to your own money and be answerable to NO ONE as to how you spend it (or save it!).

P.S. it's nothing to do with secrets

Well I did wonder ruthio, if some couples ONLY have joint accounts, when you want to buy them a pressy isn't it like them buying (or contributing) to their own present?

I think I like your idea best, joint a/c plus your own as well.

Joint accounts from day one.

As my OH says "What's mine is mine and what's yours is Mine! "

We've had a joint account for all our married life (44 years) but if we had separate accounts neither of us would have qualms about the other seeing any account
