Re: My Orchid in flower again

Thank you Nom. Iīve had this orchid a few years now, it gets virtually no attention. We just cut the big leaves off, which it grows after it finishes flowering, keep water in the saucer, thatīs it. It stays in flower for quite a long time, itīs been in flower now for around 5 weeks and still a lot of buds yet to open.

Hi clumsy

When you cut it back, how long before it flowers again? Do you mean the following year?

We have one which is pretty dormant at the moment.

Hi Longdogs. Yes it does indeed go dormant, but it seems to grow big leaves whilst "resting". We leave them until it begins growing, what just look like long stalks, then Mr Clumsy cuts the big leaves off, the stalks then begin getting buds and, well, it ends up like the photo. It does only flower once each year.

Big apology from me, I hope it isnīt too late. It isnīt the leaves that Mr Clumsy cuts off, itīs the stalks when they have finished flowering, he cuts them off leaving 2/3 inches left.

Apologies again.
