Advice Needed

The glass door of my oven is quite heavily stained. Any tips on getting it clean and shiny again would be appreciated.I have tried everything, I can think of.

Re: Advice Needed

Cream cleaner and elbow grease, or citric acid and washing soda but be careful that foams and spits a bit and can burn your skin.

My wife bought something called (I think) Oven Mate, from Lakeland. Worked a treat.

Re: Advice Needed

Try Bi-Carbonate of soda mixed to a thick paste with warm water. Smear the paste onto the glass and leave for at least fifteen minutes. Wipe off with damp cloths.

Oven Mate is superb stuff. We clean our oven dishes and racks with it too.

Best buy it now before some European Dimwit bans it as they have with anything else that actually works.

Oven mate is potassium hydroxide I believe, you can buy it much cheaper than the branded item.

Re: Advice Needed

Start with a metal wallpaper scraper tool. That will get the material grime off. Basic cleaning tends not to be able to do that. It's a grimy layer of fat and crozzled matter that has built up over time so scraping it off is the best initial way. Then just finish with the cleaner of your choice.

Re: Advice Needed

To be honest I tend to clean our oven once a week so it never gets into a state, and by doing that it only takes ten minutes or so using hot soapy water and a scourer...
