Easter bonnets

Yesterday, I watched three elderly ladies walk past, each of them very smartly dressed for Easter. One of them was wearing a lovely Easter bonnet, white with daffodils all around it. I thought it was lovely to see.

Mrs LDs says she used to wear an Easter bonnet when she was a child along with lacy white gloves but thinking back, I don't think I have ever seen anyone wearing one before.

So is there anyone on here who wears one or used to wear one?

Re: Easter bonnets

We made them in primary school once or twice.
Once I had brought mine home I seem to remember sticking it on my doll's head

My Mother use to pride herself for her Easter Bonnets, i use to help her make them sometimes. They were always an Easter Bonnet Parade where you could win prizes for the best one, my Mother won a few

Re: Easter bonnets

Many years ago at our local social club there was an Easter Bonnet parade on Easter Monday.
I always used to make one and take part in the parade.
One year I won.

Poor dongles, after standing in your pond all night, you come out to find everyone's got a bonnet but you.
I can't lend you mine, but here's a nice eggy for you to cheer you up.

I think they are a lovely idea. Mags granddaughter looks lovely in hers and it can encourage children to become creative, if they make them..... apart from the fact that mums and grandma's like helping them.

Thin cardboard, crepe paper to cover the cardboard, tissue paper and silver paper for the flowers, a nice piece of ribbon and a few little easter chicks to go on the top .... that's all it takes Twink . Fortunately it fitted her little head perfectly!
