It's absolutely stunning !!!! Also Vicars Close and the Bishop's Palace. "Our" Tessa (Chief Poinker ) was my guide when I visited last year as she lives near Wells.

Oh, that's what became of the 'Golden Arrow' - had a ride on that back in the late 1950s - (my Grandad worked on British Rail as a boiler Inspector and he got free passes).

May not have been the same loco. The "Golden Arrow" was a train service from London to Paris (and via boat) - several of this Battle of Britain Class locos ran it and carried the "Golden Arrow."

Yes, I'm aware of that, - my other Grandfather built them!!!

No 'fraid not - although I do remember going to meet my Grandad from work and as he came through the gates of the works, his clothes were smoking because he had been crawling inside where the firebox was inspecting the water pipes.
