Probably one of the greatest series, I would say, especially starring the excellent John Thaw. (And the bloke playing Robbie Lewis, whose name escapes me at the moment.)

I tried one of his books and couldn't read it, much to highbrow and over clever, just not entertaining at all, but to each his own I guess, more of a Dick Francis man myself.
Barry, some books work out better being filmed. At one time I enjoyed watching The No 1 Ladies Detective Agency, but couldn't get on with the written version at all.

Snap. I love the tv series of Morse but I found the books too dry.
Love Dick Francis he died on my wedding anniversary.
Also got on really well with the JD Wingfield ( Frost) books.
