Down the mighty river with Steve Backshall

Just watching this on BBC2 and it's amazing.

He is on the Baliem River in New Guinea. They are surrounded by local hunters who view them with suspicion and threaten them with spears, but Steve seems to talk the language and explains in such a nice way that he is just there to look at the view. Soon they are all mates and smiling.

The medic with him cleans up a nasty wound of one on the hand of one of the locals. The guy looks so happy to have some (for us) basic first aid and a dressing. It's replaced the leaf poultice he had on there and means he will not lose his hand to infection.

Hope some others managed to catch this fascinating programme.
