Dogs behaving badly

Will anyone be watching tonight channel 4 .. 6pm (I think )

I saw a snippet on the BBc news and thought it looked interesting if somewhat annoying because of the usual looking bunch of halfwit owners who think their dogs behaviour is amusing.

However sometimes its easy to overlook mistakes you are making and easy to ignore problems until you watch something like this and see where you could be heading!

Ive set my puter to record it and I will watch tomorrow.

Re: Dogs behaving badly

I watched it tonight Cass.
He comes from around my way, Northamptonshire. He runs classes not far from here I believe, along with 'pack walks' for larger groups to socialise.

I quite liked his attitude, certainly more than Caesar Milans attitude, but I suspect the programme was heavily edited and only showed his successful bits.
His classes are very expensive I thought. £99 for the KC bronze which I am doing elsewhere with Nellie at the moment for £40.

(Nellie has got her exam next week, so fingers crossed).

Is it just me or was the advice he gave obvious. Like he said, it's normally the owners that need training, not the dogs.

Hands up who had a snigger when that great Dane pulled it's owner over.

Thanks Julie.
I know she is perfectly capable, but her problem is she is so easily distracted. Her little mind is permanently in overdrive, and if something catches her eye, she loses concentration.
Oh well, we can but try. It's only a bit of fun really, not a life and death situation. Though I will be proud of her if she passes this test.

Incidentally, I contacted the Dogfather's website regarding training. If you want a One-to-One session is is an eye-watering £495 !!!!! I asked how many visits that covered. The answer was ONE. They said you can keep in touch with him via email or phone though.

I think I should have learned to be a dog trainer!

Wonder if they still paid when being filmed? Maybe he selected some of them from their enquiries?

I thought that about the poodle's owner, sitting there snuggling up to him while the boyfriend nursed his wounds! She definitely needed the training.

Re: Dogs behaving badly

Well I finally got round to watching this yesterday eveing.

As I thought a lot of owners who had simply let the situation get out of hand or in the case of the poodle encouraged bad behaviour.. Anyone else notice how she smirked every time the dog bit her BF ? Plus she had the dog in the bed with her ....

I do like that these days the emphasis isput on owners to change rather than just blaming the dog.
It was also good to see how upset he was at the failure he mentioned with a dog being PTS, showing its a last resort for him.

Re: Dogs behaving badly

That's was quite good I was surprised the poodle owner hadn't worked that out for herself though one of mine Benny dog started that with my husband and it didn't take a third time for me to put him on the floor and say bad dog. Only had to do it twice and he got it.
