Street lights icon.

"Ten female pedestrian figures will be installed on traffic lights at the intersection of Swanston and Flinders streets as part of a VicRoads-approved 12-month trial.

The Committee for Melbourne — a non-profit organisation comprising more than 120 Melbourne business and community groups — is behind the move.

Chief executive Martine Letts said having only green or red silhouettes of men discriminated against women".

Yes, that's what she said. The streetlight stick figures "Discriminate against women"....

....Streetlight stick figures..... discriminate against women....

A psychiatrist could give you the technical term for that sort of mentality. But as for me, just kill me now, please.

Interesting but I would say they have got it completely wrong. I'm guessing that the only way to show a female stick figure would be to put her in a skirt. Surely that's more sexist?

What a waste of time and money. Makes me think some have far too much time on their hands and no clue how hard many work to pay their salaries !

Yes and that's exactly what they want to do, Longy.

It never ceases to astonish me that people who are allegedly virulently against "sexism" and "discrimination" are in fact capable of the most extreme expressions of it!

Personally, I couldn't give a rat's behind if they use a picture of a monkey in the pedestrian lights. It's the manic hysteria of these "lobby groups" that worries me the most. What the hell next? They'll be demanding that all men stop wearing trousers and start wearing skirts (a la Scotland), because trousers "discriminate" against women.... words fail me.

Hahaha!

No, they wouldn't go that far, Fox. Naked women discriminate against women... or something...

Don't all these lobby groups make matters worse by drawing attention to the fact that there are different groups of people......I always wondered what was different about my best mate, and then I saw on the news about 'Black Lives Matter' and I realised he was black.....Well I never!.....

Yes, Julie, and their other problem is that too many people have been taking this kind of ludicrous nonsense far too seriously for far too long. Like children who are allowed to get away with misbehaving, they just keep ramping it up.

This is why I have zero respect for most young women these days. They're not all that bad, but enough are, and they're the ones who seem to crave the most attention.

Makes me despair. But at least I have several young women in my family circle who would dismiss this garbage as contemptuously as I do. So that's something.
