I think mine is going to, it's a strip light, long one, it takes a while to come on. Mine is also very old. I think there's a spare somewhere.

Don't worry, Julie, with these new fangled bulbs we have now, the next one will last twice as long...

Hi

Have you still got the receipt?

I would take it back.

Fluorescent tubes are still available except for the eight foot ones - the four, five and six foot tubes are slowly being phased out too.

Well that's handy for those people who have the fittings!

I hate it when I flick the switch, and the bulb goes off! Normally with a slight pop. Don't arf make me jump!!

It's a cunningly worded invitation to upgrade your lighting to the LED/LCD type.

I wonder why that is Judd. A four foot forty watt tube will adequately illuminate a reasonable sized room for just 40 watts of energy. Surely this would be quite an energy saving compared to most incandescent light bulbs where 40 watts would be nowhere near bright enough.
I noticed the large diameter fluorescent 40 watt tubes have been replaced with a thinner 30 watt replacement that are not as good.

I like led lighting - converted the whole house and our electricity bill dropped by £20 per month!

Re: Kitchen light bulb died !

Just check it's not the starter switch in the fitting Julie... as that's slightly cheaper than the bulb and tends to burn out quicker!
