Horse ran to death

Well thats how i see it , and all the praise heaped on this dead Horse is not good enough .
Was the rider responsible for pushing it to hard to win a race ,was the money worth it .

That's terrible. Apparently he died 'doing what he loved most.' Did anyone give him a choice?

Re: Horse ran to death

So sad, such majestic and beautiful animals. We don't hear much about the cruelty of horse racing, despite so many horses breaking legs in the national. Perhaps this will make a case for more ethical treatment. Makes me think of that film "war horse" - possibly the most distressing film I've ever seen.

Re: Horse ran to death

10 is no age for a horse .
They can now live into their thirties but steeple chasing at the level as this was doing is incredibility grueling for the horse the fences are big the distances long .
Keeping the horse in training (to a state of fitness )for is also very wearing.
Poor thing he really did race his heart out.

He was bred to race, it happens, if there was no racing he would not have existed. There are plenty of horses being abused and neglected, these are the ones that need help.

Ignorance speaks
Balldocks as usual

Racehorses spend their lives 23/7 in a box a highly unnatural state for a horse this causes them both physical and mental distress.
They are broken in too early forced to run too early.
If they break down and many do before they get anywhere near a racetrack they are sold for dog food.
