The Lake District or Borders

We are planning a trip up to Carlisle for a christening at the end of the month and would like to stay around 4 days either in the lakes or some other suitable area.

We are stumped for new ideas and starting to favour Hawkshead.

Do you have any suggestions.

I've never been to the Lake District but agree it's a beautiful place.

Hope you find somewhere that suits you, Manxman.

Derwent Water is lovely park in the lakeside carpark and walk along the lake to Friars crag beautiful views from there and if you like passes the Hardknot and Wrynose passes are awesome but not for nervous drivers I could go on and on but you will probably be pushed for time if only there for a couple of days...
Have a lovely time

Re: The Lake District or Borders

I now live in the Lake District and I do hope you enjoyed your stay up here.

If about here again, Derwent water (already mentioned) in Keswick is lovely but also Whinlatter forest area...by the way, Cockermouth is now fully open after the floods of Nov 2009 and is a lovely little market town.
