Isn't it time that actors shut their gobs?

Meryl Streep and the like using the awards to vent their political views. Shouldn't they just stick to the general back-slapping that the awards were invented for? Do these people think they are so important that they can lecture everyone else? It wouldn't be so bad if it was balanced but it isn't.

Whether we like Trump or not is beside the point. Should these actors just accept the award, thank God, blub a bit then get off?

A resounding, yes!

She should have been escorted off the stage by security or at the very least the sound feed turned off.

The fact that it wasn't tells me it was carefully orchestrated with the organisers.

I know but I'm talking about the Awards ceremonies, whether it was Trump, or O'Bummer or Reagan. Should they be making political statements? They are not politicians, they are there for a back-slapping by their actor buddies. They are entitled to there opinions obviously.

I much prefer a bit of controversy than gushing bullshit where even a gynaecologist is mentioned

When uou are in the public eye then whatever you think of politics or politicians ought to remain private, as whatever your views you will be disagreeing with at least half of your audience..

For my part it seems quite reasonable to use the opportunity raise a matter of concern since you know that your comments will be publicised. If Trump throws a tantrum – so be it.

I think there is 'a time and place' for making political points and an award ceremony is not it.
I think it is discourteous to the hosts and other guests to start making political statements on these occasions.
