Michael Chamberlain
Has died .He was the father of the baby taken by a dingo in 1980
He and his wife were convicted of her murder and all sorts of strange rites .
LIndy Chamberlian although heavily pregnant at the time was given life with hard labour
It was thought they had sacrificed their baby ( they were seventh day adventists which many people down under believed to be some sort of weird cult )
The case split Australia.
There was a lot of cover ups in the case .
Evidence of the Aboriginal tracker was suppressed ( she was a woman did not speak English and gave her evidence through a third party .)
She had found tracks showing a large dingo carrying something heavy .
But the court seemed determined to convict Lindy Chamberlain
And she did six years in jail before an accident on Uluru lead to the discovery of the baby's coat near a dingos den
( I have always thought this was suspiciously convenient )
The rangers there must have known she was innocent and that dingos were dangerous and easily capable of killing a baby .
After her realease Linty spent years trying to proof what had happened . It took 32 yeas before the death certificate of the child was changed .
However the stress of what had happened eventually caused the breakup of the marriage
It was made into a film starring Merck Steep
