Curtains/blankets

We put thick curtains over our doors in the Winter, to keep out the draughts. It is surprising what a difference it makes.
This is a very old house so draughts creep in everywhere.

So do I .... much snugger and warmer and looks cosier in winter.

My mum was a big fan of those fat sausage like draught excluders too until my brother tripped over it once and went through the front door.

Re: Curtains/blankets

None of our outer doors let in drafts, nor should they as they are all new and weren't cheap.

I remember curtains used to be all the rage, now its seems blinds are the in thing. Wont keep your house warm in the winter though.

Re: Curtains/blankets

Our house is so well insulated that I have just turned our heating off after our evening meal. We have cavity wall insulation, deep loft insulation, complete double glazing and solar panels. Our house has huge windows so we get a lot of light and sunshine (if there's any about) which also helps to warm the rooms.

My friend round the corner has great thick curtains hanging everywhere between rooms and it looks a mess to Be honest and it would drive me crackers to keep pulling curtains.

Re: Curtains/blankets

Suppose it depends on the age of the house. This house is 183 years old so frankly can"t expect miracles . The draughts just pop in as and when.We have had double glazing put in some of the windows.
LOL
