Re: Rubbish Christmas tv

We quite like a few repeats, certain programmes are tradition, also no sky here but our DVD player is used a lot, we've introduced next generation to the good life which they loved, finished our box set of stargate Atlantis and we've watched a few films too. One gem on tv we loved was hairspray live by nbc I think, inspired me to buy the original film on DVD and we watched both twice !

I agree Doc, I tend to watch TV between 7pm and 10pm and it has all been Harry Potter Films or repeats! I sometimes listen to the news, in the mornings but after that it is a constant stream of Children's programmes..... and they wonder why kids are getting overweight!
I wonder what they expect old folk, who live alone, to watch?

Re: Rubbish Christmas tv

They are family films rather than children's films IMO. It's been nice to be able to sit as a family for a change. I think the chocolate and rubbish many have consumed is more why anyone has put on weight over Christmas, my diet group has members who put on seven or ten pounds in two weeks ! That's not TV that's rich foods.

I have been watching proper Christmas programmes from Poland, Austria, Germany and France via satellite TV of course. Church services, choirs, concerts (including Andre Rieu), documentaries and light entertainment.

Only thing I've watched on TV over Christmas was Ethel and Ernest

The joys of having an android box, watch what you want, when you want

I agree with you Twink. As I have said elsewhere, I shall be glad when normal programmes are back. V
This last week there's been almost nothing but childrens tv all day on most channels, so many cartoons and animations, far too many. I know the kids are off school, but there are many adults still at home this week too.

As for Harry flippin' Potter!! How many times are we supposed to be able to watch these old repeats with fresh eyes, and pretend we don't know the ending?
If it's not Harry Potter its all the old James Bonds all over again . . and again . . and again.

Julie it's all very well saying how nice it is to all sit down with the children to watch these 'family films', but it is not the same at all if there are only old fogeys in the house - who have already seen them 100 times.

Well I'd say Christmas is for kids and with myriad of other stations these days I think a week or so for kids isn't that bad.
