Library book fines

Armley Library in Leeds, have received a book which was posted back to them.
The book, "Old Greek Stories," was borrowed by a war veteran in 1883 and his Grandson has just found it and returned it to the Library - 133 years later!!

I think that is amazing.

By the way, apparently the Council waived the fine of £10,600
The book is now on display in Chapel Allerton Library in the city.

Bet you've never returned a library book that late before.

Not quite but anyway my library has a maximum limit on the amount of the late return fine at $5 because they found that after a certain amount the fine discourages anybody returning a book at all.

Then there's the advantage of borrowing an ebook because it automatically returns itself (sort of)

Re: Library book fines

When my dad died we had a tremendous row with the local library, could have replaced the books many times over with the amount they tried to get out of us.

That was good of them to be so generous!
