Ouija board.

The fortune telling thread inspired me to post this.

I've always been a bit fascinated by Ouija boards but never been near one...
What I'm wondering is: What makes an Ouija board move?

Is it a fun game or do people take it serious?

Re: Ouija board.

I think Ouija boards are just silly games. However they can be a danger to the impressionable causing them to become unnecessarily fearful .

Right or wrong, personally, I would never touch one Carol. Some people treat these things like a board game or just a 'laugh', I believe that is very foolish, especially for the impressionable.

Re: Ouija board.

I'm involved ( slightly) in a lighthouse preservation trust thing and 2weeks ago a paranormal group did another ghost walk into the early morning so I went along for a look .....
The lighthouse already has cctv /night vision cameras set up anyway ,and 'they' set up all kinds of monitoring equipment too and we settled down for the night ...... there was 11 of us and they set up a board with the anyone there routine and sure enough they got replies and the glass was whizzing around but I can't say anything came from the random letters it was picking out ....
But then they put the board away and 6 of them put their fingertips on the table and asked the spirits to use their energy to move the table ..... so I'm watching like a hawk now ..... and sure enough the table begins to move .... then tips over into 2 legs then fell to the floor .... crikey I thought ....
Picking the table up THEY then put the backs of their hands on the table and again asked the energy to spin the table ..... confused I sat there waiting when slowly the table ( remember they only had hands upside down resting on it ) started moving ..... then started to spin ..... and round and round they walked with the table rotating .....

Call it a trick of whatever .... I know a few of the people and they were as amazed as myself so I know they weren't 'faking it' ..... Ive no explanations but I do know what I witnessed and will certainly go again next year if they decide to return .
Afterwards we went through the cctv recordings and saw many 'orbs' flying around on the floors we weren't on

Spooky !

Re: Ouija board.

I have never been near one but my Dad did when he was young and it scared the life out of him. It did move, it did spell out a name and the name was spelt incorrectly as apparently it was a child. I trust what my Dad tells me and he said that the glass threw itself at the wall and smashed.

I have also heard a couple of other stories from people I trust to tell the truth.

Re: Ouija board.

They move because people push them, but it`s subtle, one thinks one is not pushing. Fun or harmless? Mostly harmless but,as stated, not for those who are impressionable. I have seen a form of mild hysteria spread rapidly.

Really ? Then explain how when little ( aged around 12) MYSELF , brother and two cousins made a board and had a go .... won't bore you with the details but UP popped a name and we did indeed start pushing the glass ... he wanted to say yes .... I was pushing it to 'no' ... well after all it was just a game or so I thought !!!!!
Eventually the glass whizzed around the table so fast it flew off and landed in the kitchen ... we all ran into the other room to see parents and with us looking guilty they asked what we were doing ..... so knowing we were in trouble now we owned up ...... we said the random guys name who had been spelt out and saw the look on my parents faces ..... it was my fathers uncle .... died when I was a baby ..... coincidence?

Re: Ouija board.

I would never go near a Ouija board !

If it has no powers - then what would be the point.
If it does have powers - then I would not trust it not to be for evil rather than good!

I agree with Tabby.

It's like night & day, black & white, male & female, good & evil etc, everything has an opposite, how do you know which you might attract? And even worse, would you know what to do about it?
