Bottle Banks

Have you noticed bottle banks only take bottles and jars but nothing larger than say a litre size bottle WHY? I cannot understand in this day and age why they don't have a section where you can put larger items such as panes of glass or larger size bottles. Many times i go to our local bottle bank and find stuff to large to put in the bank just left at the side for some other poor sod to dispose off.

Window glass and bottle glass are two different things, they have vastly different melting points. Mix them and the lot ends up as land fill.

Doc I don't use a bottle bank, we are allowed to put bottles of any kind/ colour/ size/ in the green recycle bin . It does stipulate 'no window glass' but that we can take to the recycle depo.

Re: Bottle Banks

Our used bottles go to the tip. There are different bins for the different colours & the entry to them seems large enough for bigger bottles, we can take plate glass there as well but it goes in a different place.

Re: Bottle Banks

If I have any glass bottles they go into the cardboard and paper bin, which we are allowed to do.

Hi

Nothing more annoying than a posh lady in a massive 4x4 dropping off 2 wine bottles at the recycling.

Do they not have any understanding at all?

Same here Meg, 'cept ours is the brown bin - it doesn't specify what type of glass you can put in and it's also for foil and certain types of plastic.

Obviously not, if the 4X4 is on a lease, when the realization comes home, there will be a crate of wine bottles.

Re: Bottle Banks

My glass bottles and jars go in the red box and are collected fortnightly with the green garden refuse bins!
