Live broadcast at a cinema

Has anyone ever been to one?

I see the Royal Opera House are doing Swan lake and The Nutcracker next year and are broadcasting live to certain cinemas

I was thinking about getting mum tickets for Christmas.

Just wondering if anyone has been to similar and was the experience good?

Forgive the digression, Missy but -
they did La Fille mal gardée just a few weeks ago.
I have it on vinyl - just the BEST music.
(And British - well sorta)

I've been to a few of these streamings, both opera and ballet.

If you don't get the opportunity to get to a world class production locally then yes definitely go for it.

Of the two options probably I'd go to see a ballet again, but not an opera, unless you particularly want to play spot-the-tonsils or spot-the-nosehair as the camera zooms in for a close-up!!

You need VERY comfortable seats, don't forget you're going to be there for several hours.

I think there's usually an interval when you can choose to stretch your legs or fish out your sarnies from the depths of your handbag!
I've seen bottles of wine and even thermos flasks of tea emerge!!
