January Sales.

Just been reading an article about shopping habits for Christmas. My sister used to do a lot of her Christmas shopping in the January sales, i on the other hand was often doing mine on Christmas Eve. These days i do tend to shop online, but i loved last minute shopping much more spontaneous.

There may be just 37 days to go until Christmas, but many of us will barely have thought of beginning our festive shopping.

We are a nation of last-minute shoppers, with retailers reporting that sales between December 20 and 24 have trebled in the past five years. One in five of us leave it until Christmas Eve to even start.

But in these uncertain times, a new breed of Christmas shopper is emerging. Their motto? Shop early and save thousands, then bask in self-satisfaction.

So i wonder if my way is more of a male trait. ? I have planned things before, once bought the wife an expensive coat but also hid a eternity ring in the coat pocket, this needed the help of the MIL to get the size before we ventured to the Jewelers.

Re: January Sales.

I don't have much christmas shopping to do.
When I retired and became a single person living on a pension I cut out present buying except for my son and grandchildren.
Christmas presents have become an expensive farce and I refuse to take part in the madness.

I have already done my Christmas shopping having learnt a lesson last year when stocks of the things I wanted had run out. I bought them this week, nightware for the children and house linen for the adults .

I use to love christmas, but over the years a lot has changed and now we just do our own thing.. So not a lot of excitement.

I on the other hand love, the chaos, the mad rush, the excitement, it's all such fun.

Love Christmas, was never one for the January sales, I don't go mad with presents or spend a fortune but it's a bright spot in gloomy old winter so, in the words of the Tesco ad...... bring it on!!!!

Re: January Sales.

I love browsing the shops at my leisure at this time of year ....Ive almost done all my xmas shopping anyway ....I like to go around the shops and see all the nice gifts and how the shops are decorated too .....I enjoy seeing whats on offer in January but dont buy unless its something that will be genuinely useful to me.
