Are you superstitious?
Do you refuse to walk under ladders, not seat 13 at the table, think you will have seven years bad luck if you break a mirror etc?I make a point of walking under a ladder, unless I am likely to get something dropped on my head. When my family is all assembled we are 13 at the table.
My maternal Grandmother was a sensible, no nonsense Northerner, but if she ever broke a mirror she would throw a pinch of salt over her shoulder!

Like you though, Qetta, when walking under a ladder I will look up to make sure it's safe but for no other reason.

I suppose I must be - don't put new shoes on the table (inherited from my mother). Throw spilt salt over my shoulder. If I see only one magpie then must say 'Hello Mr. Magpie three times to avoid bad luck'. However, broken mirror doesn't bother me. Actually, just realised, all my superstitions were inherited from my mother!!
I have never seen a ghost either |
