The US Navy’s Stealth Ship Has A Gun So Advanced They Can’t Afford The Ammo

The Americans have built a super-duper state-of-the-art new warship with brilliant new gun. Only problem is the shells this gun uses cost $800,000 per shell and the Americans can't afford to use it.

Didn't anyone in the US defence department look at the figures prior to signing off this contract?
