i hate 'shop refunds'

Today I thought I'd buy a new TV for my mum.
As she is almost totally bed bound and the TV is quite a distance from her bed I decided to go for a 50" Bang and Olufsen Beo.

Got it home and noticed the tape on the box was different along the bottom edge.

Took the TV out and it was a different TV than I'd bought so I returned to the shop.

Unfortunately they didn't have a replacement so I asked for a refund....3-5 days it'll take.

Grrr

So now I've paid for two TV's and only have one.

If they can debit your card within seconds I expect them to refund it immediately.... why is this unacceptable practice allowed?

You'd think they'd be able to refund you immediately, was it a major store you bought it from?

I have taken goods back in the past and had my credit card refunded immediately...was it a national or local concern ?

Never bought anything from John Lewis...I get my electricals from AO .... A brilliant organisation, can't be beaten for price and next day delivery.

I had a spate of taking things back not long ago and always had an immediate refund. I'm surprised it's a John Lewis store, maybe it's their company policy..

Anything l have taken back has been refunded immediately.
I'm surprised, as John Lewis is a good company to deal with, plus l like their 5year guarantee on televisions and price match, if they still do price-match?

Actually, l'm wondering...is it your bank that takes the time to refund and not John Lewis?

The refund is authorised there and then but doesn't appear in your account for 3-5 days.
